About Me!

Hi! My name is Alex (she/her/hers). I’m a cis woman that identifies as queer. I’m vegan and a foodie. I’m also a 25 year old registered nurse living in Northwestern Ontario, Canada! I am originally from the Greater Vancouver Area in British Columbia, but I moved to Ontario to pursue an education in the health sciences. I live with my three cats: Simba, Firth, and Oat, dog: Hemlock, and wonderful partner, Dana. If you’re wondering where the pets are while I’m travelling, their grandparents love to petsit (even when I’m home for their fur baby fix!). My parents adore watching their grandkittens and grandpup! My passions include spending time with family and friends, hiking, organized sports, spending time at coffee shops, amateur videography and photography, camping, and cooking. When I’m away from work I like to take every opportunity I can to get outdoors and challenge myself physically with new skills and adventures.

Most recently, I have caught the travel bug and would like to take you on all of my adventures as I pursue my newest passion – TRAVEL!

…I want to share my travel experiences somewhere other than Facebook for my mom to see.

I have found most of my travel inspiration in adulthood through various travel social media accounts that I follow and I have always thought: “Hey! I can do that.” Doing and saying are very different though. After years of contemplation I have finally taken the leap to share my adventures publicly – and it’s scary and exciting all at the same time!

My curiosity in travel began at the age of 15 when I moved by myself to Southern Ontario to pursue a career in hockey at an international hockey boarding school. As you can imagine, there were kids from all over the world who, like me, had the common goal of “becoming a hockey player when I grow up.” Although we had similar interests in sports and academia, that is where the similarities stopped. This was the first time I had met people that were not born and raised in Canada and their stories of growing up really intrigued me since they greatly differed from my childhood. At such a young age I was just starting to develop my own world views and at that point in time travel wasn’t a priority on my mind.

Fast forward to my early twenties with the financial means and time to do so and I have travelled all throughout Canada, the United States, Iceland, the Netherlands, and the England with no plan to stop seeing the world any time soon. I currently document my travels with my iPhone 12, DJI Osmo Mobile 2 handheld gimbal, DJI Mini 2 drone, and Canon EOS Rebel T7i DSLR camera with various lenses. I primarily use Adobe Premiere Pro and Lightroom Classic to create my content. I am extremely excited to learn and practice my novice photography, videography, and editing skills on this journey with new equipment and new places to capture.

The reason I wanted to share my travel adventures with the world is that maybe I can inspire someone to experience life outside of their comfort zone!
